Profile
Dr. Gilthorpe is a double board-certified interventional pain physician and anesthesiologist who specializes in procedures and minimally invasive surgeries that offer sustained pain relief. Dr. Gilthorpe earned his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University and attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for medical school, anesthesiology residency and pain-medicine fellowship. Dr. Gilthorpe is no stranger to accolades – from class valedictorian to “Aggie Scholar” and UTMB Resident of the Year – but he says the highest form of recognition is improving the quality of life of his patients. “I take it to heart when my patients can’t sleep, work or care for their children without suffering,” he says. “I implement solutions from simple epidurals to spinal-cord stimulators and cutting-edge techniques that have been proven to work. There’s no giving up, not when it comes to helping you rediscover the joy in your day-to-day life.”
