A native Texan, he attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Following spine surgery fellowships at the Baylor College of Medicine and the University of British Columbia, Dr. Smith established his spine practice in Austin in 1989. Modern surgical technique is blended with conservative care, compassion and respect to optimize patient outcome.
