Dr. Postalian is a cardiologist at The Texas Heart Institute, Associate Program Director of the teaching staff for the Institute’s interventional cardiovascular disease training program, and associate editor for The Texas Heart Institute Journal. Dr. Postalian specializes in coronary, peripheral vascular, and structural/valvular heart disease intervention. His specific clinical and research areas of interest include cardiovascular disease prevention – including complex lipid disorder management, state-of-the-art coronary intervention guided by intravascular imaging and flow assessment, next-day discharge transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and minimally invasive abdominal aortic aneurysm treatment. Dr. Postalian has completed board certification examinations in Cardiovascular Diseases, Interventional Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Internal Medicine. He has been recognized as a Texas Superdoctors Rising Star and as a Houstonia Top Doctor.
Dr. Postalian is a graduate of the Texas Heart Institute’s interventional and general cardiology fellowship training programs sponsored by Baylor College of Medicine. He was honored with the Tauber Award as the most outstanding graduating cardiology fellow. Prior to his cardiology fellowship, Dr. Postalian completed an internal medicine residency at The McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. During residency training, he was honored as the Outstanding Senior Resident of the Year, Outstanding Resident of the Year, and Outstanding Intern of the Year – being the only resident to have been recognized with these three awards in the recent history of the school. He consistently scored among the very highest in the nation in standardized testing during training, including obtaining the highest score compared with his nationwide peers on multiple occasions.
Dr. Postalian serves as Associate Editor of the Texas Heart Institute Journal and is also a reviewer for multiple other medical journals. He is an active researcher with several peer-reviewed publications, performing many abstract presentations, and frequently giving oral presentations in several national and international meetings.
Originally from Venezuela, he graduated first in his class from medical school at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2010, obtaining the distinction of Magna Cum Laude. He also received the Lorenzo Campins y Ballester award and the Luis RazettiAward for outstanding academic achievement and research accomplishment. He has received multiple other national and international awards.
Outside of work, Dr. Postalian enjoys exercising, the beach, motorsports, playing video games on occasion for relaxation, and spending time with his wife and children.
