Dr. Manisha Balwani is a Professor of Genetics and Genomic Sciences and Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Chief of the Division of Medical Genetics. Her clinical interests include Lysosomal Storage Diseases and the Porphyrias and she is Director of the Lysosomal Diseases Program and the Porphyria Center. She leads multiple investigator-initiated and industry sponsored studies and she is Co-PI of the Porphyrias consortium of the Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network. Her goals are to advance diagnostics, management, and development of new therapies for patients with rare diseases.
