William K. Christian, M.D. is an internationally recognized leader in cataract and refractive surgery and a highly acclaimed eye surgeon. A noted speaker, he frequently lectures throughout the world; educating other eye surgeons on customized cataract, refractive and laser eye surgery. Dr. Christian attended medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine (ranked the #1 primary-care medical school in the country for twenty six consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report). After an internship year, he then completed a three-year residency in ophthalmology at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Christian received intensive training in all aspects of eye surgery and in the management of eye diseases. Following his residency training, Dr. Christian pursued further sub-specialty training by undertaking a fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Christian’s prestigious and extensive specialized training has enabled him to provide the highest quality in laser cataract (with implantation of Custom intraocular lenses) and refractive surgery (All laser-LASIK, Epi-LASIK, PRK, implantable contact lenses, refractive lens exchange), while utilizing the latest surgical techniques and the very best in cutting-edge technology.
Dr. Christian has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters in prominent ophthalmology journals and textbooks. He also serves as a journal board member for Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today and is a consultant and key opinion leader (KOL) for Johnson & Johnson Vision, Abbott Medical Optics, Inc, Lensar, Inc, and Clarity Medical Systems, Inc. His research is focused on the advancement of customized laser cataract, refractive, and LASIK surgery. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Yale Ophthalmology Society.
His expertise is in all aspects of refractive surgery (LASIK, Epi-LASIK, PRK), phakic IOL implantation (Implantable Contact Lens), advanced laser cataract surgery with implantation of custom intraocular lenses (extended depth of focus, multi-focal, toric and accommodating lenses), complex cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange, glaucoma, as well as a variety of other anterior segment surgeries and medical laser procedures.
